DH series hoists have been in production since the mid 1980's and many units have been in continuous operation since. The service life of a hoist can be estimated to determine whether a general overhaul should be considered. Although an inspection can identify damaged components, all parts which may be close to failure cannot easily be identified. The theoretical designed service life, hoist rotation counter, plus other factors are the basis for determining the remain hoist life and for planning a general hoist overhaul. Following a general overhaul using a DH Overhaul Set, the hoist should be restored to a new condition in terms of operation and performance values.
